wandering right into fall...
This weekend my feet took me to the trees, the mighty oaks at our nearby woods, to collect acorn caps and witness the first signs of autumn.
The acorns were incredibly plentiful - I almost got knocked on the head half a dozen times by a falling nut. I wouldn't have minded one bit.
The best part? Hearing the joy in my daughter's voice as she ran through the trees, finding shade filled with mottled, glinting bits of sun peeking through the still-plentiful foliage.
A little sun, a little fresh air, some woods. One satisfied family.
This post was inspired by the Wandering Wednesday series over at GardenMama.
Last week life got in the way of participating, so I did this week's post even though her photo series is over (a new one is coming up I hear!)
Where will your feet take you this week?
It looks like Fall is really headed your way! I hope it heads my way soon. :)
ReplyDeleteWanting it to head towards me as well!! Still blazing hot here, much to my hubby's chagrin ;) He's a Halloween/cider/falling leaves type of guy!
ReplyDeleteI hope so too, Cyn. Today was 40 degrees C in the sun so we're not there yet... but those hints are so present, and growing stronger every day.
ReplyDeleteOh that's definitely me too. I think I wilt in the heat a little too much for my own liking. But I savored the heat today... I know it's only a matter of months before we're in the (long) deep freeze here in Ottawa.
ReplyDeleteI can hold out a bit more. I'm not ready to haul out my cedar sweater chest!
ReplyDeleteagreed, Alessandra - I just felted some sweaters in the machine today, and suddenly remembered how thick & bulky there are...
ReplyDeleteI love your photographs, especially of the acorns. it looks so cool and fresh where you are - we are having a mini heatwave, but autumn is comeing.
ReplyDeletebeautiful leaves. Im going into spring so ill have to wait a while yet for my autum leaves!
