a photo shoot in the arboretum

A few months back, I had an idea. Since so many of our baby quilts are organic, I wanted to find a way to visually tie them back to nature. To highlight how they are as easy on the earth as they are on the eyes. So to speak.

So we found this antique painted chair. Just the right size!

Product photography is incredibly challenging. Coming up with a concept and staging products so they are truly represented in color, and half as visually appealing in photographic form as in person... is so very hard. Especially with a point and shoot camera (but I have a new one coming thanks to many years of Aeroplan miles! yay!) This photo shoot taught me that taking the time to come up with a concept, and the right props, can be very rewarding. And I love that they are more interesting to me than just the regular white backgrounds (as lovely as those are).

  1. Oh I hear ya on the product placement photography! I have an etsy store, and a blog that someday I hope to ring in some sponsers (at least for some coffee money! ;) ) and I constantly struggle to get the right light, and color 9with my point and shoot too!!!). You blankets look lovely though regardless hun!

  3. I agree. It's so hard to find just the right shot, and I always love a product that looks natural and un~staged!
    Beautiful job~
