truly organic skincare - and a reader discount!

It was about a year ago now that I discovered Stem Organics - a new, innovative and truly organic skincare line out of Australia (there's such fabulous design out of Australia, isn't there? Peppermint Magazine, lots of eco friendly products... yay for Australia!!)

Since becoming pregnant with my first daughter, I've become an avid reader of ingredients, and have largely avoided most beauty products. We make our own organic body cream at home, and use our products quite selectively.

But I'm not 20 anymore. And using an eye serum, and a nourishing skin oil on my face... well... these things have helped me tremendously, I think. I like to think that I'm helping my face hide the nights I don't get much sleep, and putting some money in the skin bank for the future. Plus, it feels wonderful to have a little way to pamper myself. And knowing that I'm doing it with organic and safe ingredients... well that feels even more wonderful.

Lara, the founder of Stem Organics, says that "everything you touch, matters". Indeed, when it comes to skincare and what you put on your skin - it all matters. Even those last 5 ingredients in most conventional skincare, things that are impossible-to-pronounce.... those can be (and most likely are) toxins that rather easily pass through the largest organ in our body - our skin. Here is a fabulous LIST of commonly found chemicals we're better off avoiding, and why.

I spend loads of time researching organic and eco friendly choices for ourselves & our family (have part 1 of our non toxic camping solution coming up soon on this blog). So I thought I'd share with you one of my favorites. No one, including Stem Organics, asked me to do this or provided me with any compensation of any kind for this.

But Lara was kind enough to offer all of you, the readers, with a 20% off anything in their line coupon, in case you wanted to try it yourself.

Just use code SewnNatural20 for 20% off the whole line at Stem Organics, valid til 30 October 2010

  1. I couldn't agree more! Over the past year I have really started to watch labels and as I started using products up, I'm replacing them with homemade or organic lines instead. Thanks for this info!

  2. hi jen,

thanks for the wonderful introduction to Stem Organics and for the coupon offer (and an extended thanks to Lara from Stem Organics)! i'm always on the search for natural/organic beauty and skincare products, and Stem sounds absolutely lovely. i just placed an order for the daily ritual kit. i can't wait to get it!

one of my favourites is John Masters Organics (http://www.johnmasters.ca/). their Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Milk is absolutely divine! the scent is fresh, invigorating, and unmistakable.... it's my best kept secret, but one totally worth sharing!

    anyway, thanks again.

    warmest wishes,
