little pieces of the rainbow

Wet felting is such a magical process, and I got into it again this week when I made this giant wool eggs - large enough to tuck a playsilk into. There's a growing distance between me, the baby, and the sink (!) but a few dishtowels on the floor solved that burgeoning issue.

A few weeks (or was it months?) ago we dyed and dyed our little stash of playsilks.

This week I got to match up some spring rainbow pairs (a few are available in our shop and we have some 7-playsilk rainbow sets available too).

All the while, we've been noticing rainbows everywhere. Not as obvious as the ones that drape across the summer sky, but quiet, little ones that peek into our view and make us smile. Little pieces of magic.

On the walls, on the floor.

I said, the other day (to my 4 year old), "Is spring in the air?"

"No, Mama" she said forcefully. "It's on the ground."

Indeed it is.

  1. What a great idea! I haven't tried hollow eggs yet. Though I did something similar with rocks in the middle of wool once.. hmmmm.... because I really need another project in the works.. (:

  4. This is a wonderful idea! And I really love the colours of the playsilks - especially the aubergine and red tones.

Did you consider collecting your little one's thoughts in a book? They're so wonderful and wise. They make me stop and think, and smile. :)
