blue poppies at night

It's our favorite space. The newly renovated room at the back of our house (a light-filled space built using the previously framed out 100 year-old summer kitchen). The wood windows, the light, facing the backyard - huge walnut trees. Nestled in the middle of the city, but it doesn't feel like it somehow.

Much of the year we eat dinner once it's dark, and we decided some curtains were in order- something to give us just a little bit of privacy. Since we are in the middle of the city and all.

So I happened upon some Marimekko unikko cotton on sale and snapped it up without so much as a second thought. And as a gift to us, my mom sewed them up into sweet, short curtains, hitting just below the windowsill. Less for little hands to tug at. And less formal, somehow.

And we love them, our blue poppies at night.
