chalkboards are write on
Last year we found this fabulous cotton blackboard-inspired cotton, an import from Japan... and succumbed to its seemingly handwritten letters and graphic style.
And we made some baby bibs with it, each one backed with sturdy and soft organic cotton flannel.
Little did we know that the chalkboard, writable surface trend would hit just about now.
Scribbles on black is all the rage.
And we should have stocked up on more fabric, I guess.
In the meantime, thank you to Cool Mom Picks for featuring our bib earlier this week here!!
And if you live in St. Louis, you can see our bib on CBS's Mommy Monday on March 28th...
As all of this happens one little girl I know is teaching herself to write (almost in spite of my efforts to slow down and throw herself into more thick white, end of winter snow).
The chalkboard trend is definitely cool, though much of it is centred on vinyl (usually quite toxic, especially for kids) decals and other paraphenalia. Here are some of my more eco friendly chalkboard favorites - fodder for some fabulous DIY ideas.
cocodelayinc's chalkboard eco chic ring (with sustainable wood and nickel and lead-free brass)
Rusticblend's chalkboard-painted wooden napkin rings
ShabbyChalk's eco friendly, salvaged mahagony window made into a double chalkboard, perfect for the kitchen (for menus, lists) - even special events!
Congrats on your features!! It's hard to resist a cute baby, but paired with the bib, it's adorable:)
